LOCATION
Tuindorp Oostzaan is part of the nationally protected cityscape of Amsterdam North because of its important urban, architectural and cultural-historical significance. The area borders the Oostzanerdijk. It was built in two phases (1921-1924 and 1935-1938) on the model of the English garden cities. The garden villages in North are a phenomenon for Amsterdam. The renovation of Tuindorp Oostzaan, between 1994 and 2002, was the largest neighborhood renovation project in the Netherlands. To preserve the architectural unity of the village, Woningbedrijf Amsterdam chose to renovate all the houses and not replace any parts. Insulation was installed on the inside of the exterior walls, leaving the exterior of the houses untouched. The wooden floors on the first floor were replaced with an insulated cement floor. The old stairs were replaced with wider and less steep ones. In addition, all kitchens, toilets, water pipes, faucets, gas pipes, electrical systems and central heating boilers were renewed at that time. In 1999, the project received the National Renovation Award, for preserving the cultural-historical and architectural value of the garden village.
Moon Street 58 underwent another renovation in 2015 and was equipped with a new kitchen, new bathroom and fixed stairs to the attic floor. The Maanstraat is a lovely green street, just like the rest of the neighborhood.
The connection to the Ring Road is excellent and public transportation is well arranged. Within walking distance are stores, playgrounds, an outdoor swimming pool and fast bus connections. The neighborhood is minutes from the A10 Ring Road. By bike you can reach nature reserve 't Twiske in 10 minutes and the NDSM ferry in 6 minutes.
And parking is free in the street. Just think about that in Amsterdam.
